(UPDATED 9/17/08) Depart: Friday for Laurel Caverns, PA Return: Sunday Night (4 pm) Cost: $100
Gear List: * Each boy must have TWO sources of light for caving. * Laurel Caverns requires that all participants MUST wear long sleeve shirts and long pants while caving.

Grubmasters: A reminder, you are cooking via dutch ovens and need to provide food for 2 breakfasts and one dinner. Lunch Saturday will be provided by Laurel Caverns. Menu choices can be found at http://troop654.editme.com/Cooking.
ITINERARY Thursday -- 7:30pm Troop Gear Pack out St Luke's (Lead: Mr. Carney) -- Each patrol must provide at least 1 Representative
Friday -- Group 1 Departs 3pm from St Luke's (arrive at St Luke's nlt 2:30pm) -- Travel time is 3.5 hours -- Group 2 Departs 6pm from St. Luke's (arrive at St. Luke's nlt 5:15pm) -- Travel time is 3.5 hours -- Set up camp
Saturday -- Climbing\Rappelling or Forestry Merit Badge (must be checked in by 9:00am) -- Caving Upper & Lower 1:30pm-5:30pm -- Free evening
Sunday -- Eat, break camp, and depart for home -- departure not earlier than 9:00am; not later than 11am

Troop 654 Scouts and Parents: Join us for cave exploration on Saturday and climbing & rappelling or geology on Sunday at Laurel Caverns - a 435 acre geological park featuring Pennsylvania's largest cave!!!
ACCOMMODATIONS AND MEALS: Tent camping and patrol meals using Dutch Ovens

** There are TWO caving programs offered for Scouts:
- 12 years and older: Lower Caving (See zones (1), (3), & (4) below)
- 9 years and up: Upper Caving (See zones (1), (2), & (3) below).
Laurel Caverns has four zones for caving.
1. Easy and well-lit portions of the traditional guided tour.
2. The maze of unlit but safe crawl passages off the guided tour.
3. Untouched, unlit, huge rooms below the guided tour path.
4. A mile of untouched, unlit, forty-foot high corridors that go to the bottom of the mountain.
